I know! I know! It's been along time since I posted. Everyday gets busy and there is always something that has to get done or I'm just to tried to "think" of something to write.
It seems each day is busier than the past and then when I think back I can't remember what we did. last week was Thanksgiving which was Katie's first. The girls were dressed alike and can you believe we did not even take one picture. I think I'm going to have to put them both back in the outfit and pretend it was taken on Thanksgiving day. I feel bad that Katie being baby number 2 will not have near as many pictures as Taylor had taken as a baby. With Taylor we took pictures every single day the first year and now with Katie we rarely have out the camera. It's not because we love her any less though it's just that life is much more crazy with 2!
Katie has been pretty sick with a cold the last couple of weeks. Which gives mommy yet another excuse not to go to the gym and workout:-)! I feel bad she coughs so hard but is such a trooper.
Yesterday, was not a mommy of the year day. We were getting ready to go to Taylor's swim class so I set Katie in the car seat which is up on the dryer and did not buckle her. As I was quick putting on a shirt All I saw was my little angle flying in slow motion through the air. She flew into the laundry basket full of clothes and bounced right off onto the hard cold tile floor. I was horrified and started to scream. Both girls also started screaming! I'm so thankful the basket of clothes broke her fall otherwise we might have ended up in the ER!
Then about 5 minutes later while I'm still cuddling and comforting the baby from the fall Taylor walks in the room and says, " oh no mommy look" she had found a bottle of nail polish and had it all over her and the tile floor. Needless to say we did not make it to swimming class:-)
Both girls are changing so much. Katie is leaving the newborn stage. She is such a happy baby. She loves to cuddle and demands attention. When I breastfeed she has to twirl my hair it is soo cute. She is "kinda" sitting up and she loves to hold and explore things in her hands. I can't believe she will be 5 months already at the end of the month. I'm falling more in love with her each and everyday!
Taylor is also amazing. Just in the last couple weeks she has changed and seems much more mature with her vocab.. She uses full sentences and seems to think of what she has to say before she says it.
I wish I wrote down more of what she says. Dennys and I like any parent would be are so amazed by what she says. She loves to pray. Every single night we pray before bed and she often continues her prayers when we leave the room. When she wakes up in her bad in the morning I hear her on the monitor praying for people and she always ends with " In Jesus name I pray AMEN"! Sooo super cute.
Dennys came home from work one day last week and she sat up at the table and told him " Daddy I need attention".
The list goes on and on on what she says and shares with us each day. My mom was over this past weekend and she cracked us up. My mom's tummy growled and Taylor looked at her and said " oh your Butt, Mema say excuse me. It was hilarious.
She is entering the stage that she does not nap everyday. As I'm writing this post she is in her crib yelling at me to come get her. I still make her rest that way we all have some down time. She has figured out how to get out of her crib. But most days she is good about staying in until I get her. She only climbs out when I have her there for a time-out. Guess I have to find a new spot.
Christmas is coming very soon. Dennys and I are more excited this year since Taylor is getting to the age where she understands more. We have most of our shopping done and will be sad when the season comes to an end. I have a huge desire to make memories/traditions for our girls. From projects, family time, and even the way our house smells. I pray that the girls will look back and have great childhood memories. I love my little family so much and am thankful for what God has given me in each of them.

Katie is Coeing
Katie turned 1 month old yesterday and holy cow it has gone so quick. It's not our favorite baby stage but I'm sad to think she could be our last baby in the house so I try not to get to worked up over sleepless nights.
This past week she has been showing a lil more personality. It is so cute because she will move her head towards Dennys or my voice. A couple of nights ago when Dennys came home from work she was laying in my lap and when she saw him she gave a little smile and started to coe. It is so fun to hear her sweet litle voice. She is getting cuter everyday. She is amazingly strong. At just 2 weeks she started turning from her tummy to her back( I think the Dr. thought we were crazy when we old him she was rolling already). And she now holds her neck up and pushes up with both arms like she is doing a push up. Taylor was pretty early crawling right at 6 months but I have a feeling Katie might show her up. We are so happy to have Katie in our family and are looking forward to her forming her own personality.

SHOPLIFTING
Katie is 4 weeks this week and I still feel like I'm in survival mode. I have been feeling so guilty having Taylor locked up in the house for the the last month. Her and I were always on the go before baby Katie and both of us seem to be going stir crazy. So, I made it a point to get her signed up in a swim and gym class and also signed up myself for a MOMS Bible study group.
So, today was our first MOMS group. I was feeling confident being out by myself with both girls and decided to go to mall after moms group. I had Katie in the stroller and Taylor walking next to me. She was being such a good listener and seemed to be enjoying being out of the house. We had gone to a couple stores and then found ourselves in baby section in Dillard's. We decided to head back to other side of mall where we started. Right when we get into original destination (JCP) I looked at the front of the stroller and we had a big green piggy bank on board with us. Yes, Taylor must have decided she needed another bank for her shelf at home:-0! Just as I realized we had to return back to Dillard's the baby started screaming. I then went from a confident mom who feels like ok I can handle this went back to thinking what in the world am I doing out with a 4 week old and a toddler. I quickly convinced myself I would be on the evening news as a miss fit mother who steals little green polka dot piggy banks! I could see myself crossing the line back into Dillard's and buzzers going off and me being hauled away heehee.
Ok well maybe that is a little dramatic but anything is possible when you have Miss Taylor with you. She keeps me on my toes everyday and never fails to make me smile. Needless to say I walked right back in store and the buzzers did not go off and I returned the lil piggy back to it's home. And yes we are now home for the rest of the day.

WARNING SHE IS A CHOMPER
So, yesterday I was to upset to share this story yet today I find much humor in it. Almost every weekday Taylor and I got to Mountainside fitness to workout. Well, I workout and have some mommy time while Taylor goes to gym daycare to play with other kids. For the most part she seems to really enjoy it. We have had a few issues with her being bit. And on those occasions I have asked the question what happened and nobody ever seems to have a clue.
Well, yesterday I guess the roles were reversed as I was enjoying my cardio session chatting with my friend I hear my name being announced over the loudspeaker to report to childcare. I figured she had been bit or to be honest she bit somebody else. Taylor who is ‘spirited” to say the least has been known to be a little feisty. So, I got my stuff and walked into childcare and this older women is holding her. And as I’m walking up she says Taylor bit another child. And not only did she bite another child she will be suspended for 1 month. I kind of laughed but realized the old bag was serious. I asked the lady if she was kidding. We have been going everyday for almost a year now and I have never got a warning or talked to about Taylor’s behavior. I then asked well what happened and course the standard answer was” I don’t know nobody saw what happened”. I was so upset. I mean for goodness sakes what 1 ½ year old understands suspension? Then to top things off the lady goes on and says and “don’t try and pull a fast one and take her to another mountainside because she is in the system and they won’t let her in’. I walked away crying. Here I am 9 months pregnant and balling. I speak to the manager and he tries to justify the policy but you can tell he thinks the policy is ridiculous as well. Needless to say he said he would review the situation and get back to me which of course never happened.
So, today I’m still annoyed that she got a month suspension. This means a suspension for me as well. But, it’s so hilarious today to think my 1 year old is suspended and is on a WARNING list across the US at all the Mountainside fitness locations heeheee. I was in 5th grade when I got my name on the board for the first time and was devastated. But, my child at 1 goes straight for the suspension heeheee. Oh Lord, I’m scared to think of what is in the future for Dennys and I as parents!

Baby Katie or Baby Mason?
Baby Katie or baby Mason? And when will he or she be born is the question of the month. We have asked friends and family to guess the sex and what day it will be born. Dennys has offered a Starbucks gift card to the winner.
Tomorrow marks 38 weeks and I can’t believe I’m still pregnant.. I really thought this time around the baby would come early. I have been walking 3 miles in the am, 1 hour of cardio at gym and a 3 mile walk in the evening each day and still nothing!
Went to Dr. this am and was planning on having membranes stripped but just as Taylor did the baby has decided to turn away from birth canal at the last minute. My theory is the baby received the CHOMPER WARNING about big sister Taylor and is now afraid to exit heeheee. The good news is that there was some progress in dilation which is now a 3 and effacement is now at 80%! So, come on baby Ruiz we are looking forward to meeting you. And don’t worry we will keep the Chomper from chomping you heeheee!

The Cute and Not so Cute!
Ok, so since I started the blog I have been trying to write down some of the things Taylor has been doing. I feel bad because for so long I must have taken for granted so much of what she did.
Some of the things she said over the last 2 weeks that make Dennys and I laugh and smile:
-No, I can do it
-We pulled up to a store and she said “Are we going shopping’
-Our next door neighbors name is Jason. He was outside and we asked if she wanted to say hi to him and she replied by saying “I miss Jason”
-Dennys and I were putting on our socks and shoes to go for a walk and she said “Guys, where’s my socks”
And of course not everything that she has been saying is so cute. She is on a “MINE” kick. She folds her arms and says “No, Mine”! I have told her not to say it many times and have given her spanks after warning her a million and one times and she could care less. She is sooooo stubborn like her daddy!
Another, thing that she does that drives me nuts is that every time I say something to her she says “huh”. Which is another habit daddy has grrrrrrrr. I told him this weekend just to listen to her and every time I say something before she answers she says “huh”! And sure enough she did it. He thinks it’s hilarious but now realizes his bad habit heheee. I must admit though that I have a bad habit of ignoring the 101 times Taylor says “mommy” to me. More times than not she just says, “Mommy” and has nothing else to say.
I know this is a very short stage so I should not take for granted the moments. Before I know it she will have friends that are more important than me. It makes me tear up just thinking about it! I love my days, hours, and minutes with her. I feel beyond blessed to have her as my child! And before I know it my days of just her and I are going to be gone!
She also has taken interest in dressing herself. It is so cute to watch her put her clothes and shoes on. She struggles and gets a little frustrated but she does it. She has not put her shirt on without help but she can do bottoms, socks, and her shoes! She also got a little princess scooter that she can do all by herself as well. It only took a couple times for her to figure it out. I’m so thankful she is determined and hope she carries that value the rest of her life.

Last Minute Trip to Florida
So, our usual daily routine got a little mixed up and exciting last week.
Dennys had a business trip to Florida so Taylor and I decided since it was free hotel and we would only have to pay for one plane ticket that we might as well go along with him. We are so glad we went. The plane trips were kind of long but Taylor being the social butterfly that she is had a blast on the plane. She made friends with the people sitting next to us and ended up sitting with them during the flights.
While Dennys went to work she and I decided to go to the Melbourne Zoo. Anyone, who knows me knows I’m not a animal person at all, But I know that Taylor loves animals and thoughts she would enjoy it. Once we got to the zoo we got our ticket and paid for a stroller. As soon as we entered I realized the zoo might have been a mistake. The smell was horrible. As we started making our way around there was water misting everywhere and BUGS! Big black flying bugs that were I guess you would say “mating.” They were flying around attached to each other. Anyways, apparently I was the only one in the zoo that did not get the bug repellent memo. The bugs insisted on landing on me. I was dancing around like a crazy woman trying to get away. It was horrible. So, needless to say our zoo trip was less than 45 min. long. We got to see a couple monkeys, birds, and a Giraffe!
Once, Dennys returned from work we had a great evening at the beach. Taylor was like a fish in the water. It was so much fun watching her play in the water and make sandcastles. The water was perfect temp and so relaxing. The very next day we decided to return to the beach again since Tae Mae loved the water. It was a short trip but I’m so happy we decided to go! I’m sure it will be our last family trip this year since baby #2 is going to be here in less than 2 months.

How Our Family Got Started
Taylor May aka Tae Mae, Tae Tae, Monkey, Baby, Goofy, Silly, Pumpkin Pie, Sweeite and many others has changed mine and Dennys world.
For a long time I said “I don’t think I want children”. Given my background of many years working with children I knew they were WORK and was afraid of the unknown. Having a daycare the children went home everyday however I knew if I had children they would never go home heehee. Don’t get me wrong I adore kids and have loved many of them I just was afraid. Dennys who wanted kids right away agreed to wait until I was “ready”! After four years of marriage and finding out my dad was terminally ill I decided it was time! After many months of trying Dennys and I found out we were expecting our first child that would arrive in Oct of 2008.
The pregnancy was fairly easy. I had the morning sickness and said I would never ever have another one again heeheee. But after that passed the actual pregnancy went great. Even though the pregnancy was great it was the most heart wrenching and life changing moments I have yet to live. I along side my step mother and family members watched my father deteriorate in a matter of a few short months. I stopped working to help care for him. My dad who was every definition of a “Man” went from strong, independent self driven family man to completely helpless to a disease called ALS! He fought so hard hanging on to the hope of meeting his first grandbaby. In the end the disease got the best of him and In August of 2008 just 4 weeks before our beautiful Taylor May was born. He passed away.
Taylor was born at 7:54 and in military time it translates to 19:54 which also happens to be the year my dad was born. So at that moment I knew my dad was watching over us and did get the chance to meet Taylor in Heaven! God is so Good!
I had no idea what a blessing a child was until I became a mommy myself. Taylor has the ability to make me laugh and smile non stop each and everyday. She lights up our world. Crazy, enough I miss her when I put her in bed and feel terribly guilty putting her in childcare at church and the gym. Her on the other hand is a social butterfly and does not have separation anxiety heehee.
Taylor has already passed many milestones. She is full of life. She loves to talk non-stop some of her favorite words being:
Mommy and mommy and then mommy again J
Daddy
Baby
Dog
Derick
What’s that?
Outside
Water
Snack
“she’s poopy” (referring to her self)
I love you
Night Night
And the list goes on and on even repeating some words that I may have taught her while driving that are not so niceJ!
She is at the stage she mimics everything we do. She loves to be a big helper. She digs with daddy and helps him in the yard. And she loves to help me clean. Yesterday she found a glove and decided she would clean the toilet just like mommy does. I was horrified that she was touching the potty but did not want to break her spirit since she was helping. Being very independent she refuses to let us help her eat and now she drinks out of real cups with no problem.
Dennys and I amazed as I’m sure all other parents are at how smart and as Dennys would say “advanced” she is. It’s so funny to look at her and see this 31inch person walking around who also happens to call the shots in the house! She was not a cuddly baby at all but through much prayer God has changed her. She is so cuddly these days giving out free hugs and kisses and so giving. She loves to share and she adores babies! Everywhere we go if she sees a baby she just lights up. So hopefully she will be just as happy when baby number 2 arrives in July! Taylor also loves to pray. Before each meal she puts her hands together, says her own little prayer and finishes with a huge AMEN.
In these short 19 months God has shown me to love because you never know when that opportunity will come to an end. And he has also shown me what selfless love is by being a mommy.
Hopefully, this is just a glimpse to what I will blog on in the future. I hope to stay disciplined to share all the future moments that make up our days as a family. I would love Taylor to be able to read all about her best and worst moments as a childJ!

Writing a blog for my babies!
I have decided to write a blog about our little family of 3 and soon to be 4 in July! I’m not a sentimental person (wish I was). Often feel bad when all my mommy friends have created beautiful baby books or scrapbooks. Or have beautiful family photos hanging in their homes. I tell myself I’m going to do it but in the end I never have and more than likely will never take the time to do it.
Taylor is now 19 months and so many milestones have passed. In the moment I tell myself I will not forget each one. But, even in the short 19 months that I have had with her I’m sad I have forgotten so many milestones and have never even recorded them. By starting the blog I’m hoping I will record the many special moments to come. I might take the time and write long drawn out stories while other times I might write a couple sentences just so I have the memory. If Taylor happens to be sentimental I will at least have some things recorded for her and the new baby to come.
Taylor is now 19 months and so many milestones have passed. In the moment I tell myself I will not forget each one. But, even in the short 19 months that I have had with her I’m sad I have forgotten so many milestones and have never even recorded them.
